About
Handcrafted jewellery sustainably produced in Iceland
Endurlífga Jewellery was born from my desire to relaunch my jewellery career in Iceland. I'd worked for 5 years in Birmingham Jewellery Quarter before relocating my life to Iceland, and I put my career on the back burner for a few years while I settled in to my new home.
I desperately wanted to start making jewellery again, however I'd become unenamoured with the jewellery industry and all of the unethical practices used. Until one day as I was walking along the beach and I found some sea glass, the first sea glass I'd found in Iceland! An idea started to form...I wouldn't need to use unethically mined gemstones in my work. I started to go beachcombing more frequently, finding sea glass, sea pottery and washed up ocean plastic to use in my jewellery. Since then I've also started purchasing ethically-sourced gemstones from ethical suppliers to use along side my reclaimed items.
This story is how I came upon the name 'Endurlífga Jewellery'. Endurlífga is a beautiful Icelandic word meaning 'Revive'. I aim to revive my career here in Iceland, and also breathe new life into reclaimed objects.
My hope is that as time goes on the processes I use at Endurlífga Jewellery will continue to become more sustainable and have as little as an impact on our planet as possible.
