Wedding ring servicing, repairs and sizing

Recently I've had a few customers bring their wedding bands to be resized or repaired. I thought that this would be a good time to explain the process behind these services and the importance of them.

I currently offer 3 services for plain wedding bands (without patterns or stones set into them); ring servicing, ring repairs, and ring resizing. I can offer all of these services for wedding bands made from silver, yellow gold, rose gold, or natural white gold. I currently cannot offer these services for rhodium plated white gold as I do not have the plating equipment yet, but hopefully I will be able to offer that in the future! I can also offer ring servicing for platinum and palladium, but I am not set up for repairs or resizing in those metals.

Why have your wedding band serviced?

Over time wedding rings will lose their shine and the surface will develop marks and scratches from everyday wear and tear. Dirt can sometimes settle into scratches and make them appear more visible. Having your ring serviced every once in a while can remove these marks.

What is included in a wedding band service?

A wedding band service includes gently buffing out scratches, repolishing and cleaning the ring. If I notice that any repairs are needed I will also carry out those repairs at an extra cost.

What repairs can be carried out on wedding bands?

Many things can happen to your wedding ring that may cause damage. Most repairs are usually deformed rings or rings that have been cut off the customers finger. If your ring is damaged I can inspect it and tell if and how I can repair it.

Why have your ring resized?

As you get older your ring size is likely to change. Many things can affect ring size including pregnancy, health conditions, and injury among other things. A tight ring can block circulation to the finger and cause pain or numbness. This usually leads to the ring being cut off the finger, but you can prevent this by having your ring upsized before it gets too tight. It's a good idea to check once in a while that you can slip your ring off and on your finger without too much difficulty.
